Main Purpose of the role:
To build and manage reports and dashboards to drive business insight and ensure the adoption of this insight throughout the business, to allow value to be derived from it.
The majority of the data for the reports comes from a bespoke SQL database that sits behind our bespoke ERP, supplemented by financial data from MS NAV 2019 and some other external sources (e.g. Google analytics).
A successful applicant needs the technical skills to enhance and build reports and dashboards (utilising the in house development team when required), whilst having the people skills to understand requirements and encourage adoption and the analytical skills to drive insight.
The role is fairly autonomous, with direction directly from the managing director. A successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to create methods of approach and plan a roadmap of delivery and adoption.
Responsibilities
Capturing Data Requirements
Work with all areas of business to understand what data insights will help them to get more value from their areas of responsibility
Design and Build Power BI reports and dashboard
Create and edit both the data models and front-end reports
Escalate data engineering tasks to the in-house development team if and when required
Manage adoption of reports and dashboards
Actively work with all elements of the business to ensure they understand the reports and dashboard available to them and can use them to drive value
Drive insight from the data available
Regularly review the data to spot trends / other insights and highlight these to the relevant business areas, particularly the MD
Feed the product backlog with data capture ideas
Work with the in house development team to ensure data is captured to feed the reports
Personal Requirements
Qualifications/Experience
- MS PowerBI development experience is highly encouraged
- Basic SQL knowledge is highly encouraged
- Experience in producing business information reports is mandatory
- Experience in gathering business insight requirements is mandatory
